Join me with Miss Ida Blue and an all star line up of NY’s finest jazz musicians to celebrate the music of Billie Holiday in this, her 100th anniversary year. In the band-Jon Eric Kellso (trmpt), Dan Block (t sax), Jay Rattman (clar), Conal Fowkes (pno), John Gill (guit), Brian Nalepka (bass) and Kevin Dorn (drms). Miss Ida and myself have been working tirelessly to select many of the neglected gems that Holiday recorded in the prime of her singing ability, (1936-41) chiefly from the material she recorded with the groups put together and directed by pianist Teddy Wilson, featuring tenor sax legend and close friend of Holiday, Lester Young. These sessions constitute some of the finest jazz ever recorded. Please join us as we give our salute to these wonderful musical treasures and to the “Lady” and gentlemen who immortalized them.
